This full-time role involves working with elementary and middle school students who have moderate to severe disabilities, including those on the Autism Spectrum and other complex needs, within a public educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with classroom educators and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to execute behavioral intervention strategies.
- Provide individualized support to students in one-on-one or small group settings.
- Implement and monitor behavior support plans tailored to each student’s needs.
- Track and document student progress regularly using a designated data collection system.
- Engage with school personnel, families, and other team members to ensure comprehensive support.
- Equip teachers and staff with resources, tools, and modeling of effective techniques.
- Assist in the supervision of daily activities and routines, which may include personal care tasks.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by educators and school leadership.
- Uphold a high standard of ethical conduct and maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a school setting is advantageous.
- Ability to guide and oversee a school-wide behavioral management framework alongside individualized behavior plans.
- A strong belief in the potential for all students to succeed academically.
- A focus on strengths and growth rather than deficits.
- Competence in behavior management techniques.
- Openness to employing various strategies based on student requirements.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills with special education staff and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Use of data and reflective practices to inform support and interventions.
- Proactive in seeking resources and solutions to address challenges.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of a BACB-approved Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) course.
- Current registration with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to the Building BCBA, Building Principal, Special Education Team Administrator, and Director of Special Education.
