Job Title: Senior Transmission Line Engineer

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to join our San Diego Power Delivery Line Department. The successful candidate will lead, support, and coordinate various tasks, including:

  • Fostering a culture of innovation and client-focused solutions

  • Leading transmission design efforts with projects ranging from 12kV-765kV
  • Preparing and checking design deliverables, including plan and profiles drawings, material selection, and construction specifications
  • Performing quality reviews for internal and subcontractor deliverables
  • Prioritizing work and managing multiple projects under budget and time constraints
  • Managing and developing project estimates, schedules, bids, and engineering support
  • Evaluating design options, criteria, and routes for technical merit
  • Understanding construction standards and requirements for high voltage line work
  • Coordinating with contractors and subcontractors to ensure client satisfaction

Required Education/Experience:

  • Civil (BSCE) or Electrical (BSEE) degree from an accredited university with a power option
  • Experience in the design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines, including route selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, and development of construction bid packages
  • Understanding of NESC and GO-95
  • Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Lite
  • Strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • 12 or more years of experience in transmission line design
  • California Professional Engineering license (PE) is strongly preferred
  • Experience with MFAD, and Microsoft Project is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of transmission line routing, field program planning, project management, EPC projects, and line construction
  • Distribution/underbuild design experience is a plus
  • Understanding of ANSI, ASTM, ASCE, and IEC standards
  • Managerial and leadership skills
  • Proficiency with PLS-TOWER

Base Salary Range: $90K - $180K
