Your Role in Patient Care

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is essential in patient care, actively participating in the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs), the LPN offers guidance in patient education and activities that align with their qualifications and demonstrated competencies.


Key Responsibilities


Under RN supervision, evaluate patients' physical, psychological, and social aspects in both healthcare and residential settings, contributing to personalized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as necessary.


Execute treatment plans directed by healthcare practitioners, administer medications (including IV therapy if certified), and perform diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures.


Participate in controlled substance counts at the start of each shift, adhering to safety protocols and standard precautions while responding to health emergencies within established guidelines.


Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures, implement nutritional and therapeutic diet plans, and document nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and other relevant personnel.


Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in delivering high-quality patient care.


Qualifications & Requirements
Education

Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

Experience

Preferred minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience.

Licenses/Certifications

Maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.

Must obtain and maintain CPR certification.
