Overview

The Aircrew Program Management Specialist acts as a comprehensive aide to the Aircrew Program Manager, ensuring the effectiveness of aircrew training and evaluation standards for specific aircraft associated with a designated air carrier. This role involves assisting in the oversight of training programs related to assigned aircraft, including designated examiners and Aircrew Program Designees (APD).

Key Responsibilities

1. Formulates a work plan to guarantee regular monitoring of designated pilot and flight engineer examiners, as well as company training programs.

2. Ensures that the assigned air carrier executes flight crew training and assessments in accordance with applicable regulations and approved training protocols.

3. Supervises company check airmen and APDs, serving as a technical consultant to the Principal Operations Inspector (POI) regarding the company's training and evaluation programs.

4. Coordinates technical guidelines, policy directives, and procedures through the POI to maintain consistency in training and evaluation practices.

5. Conducts enforcement inquiries and compiles final reports with recommendations for action.

6. Engages in the emergency suspension of airmen certificates when necessary and oversees the re-evaluation of certified airmen.

7. Investigates public complaints, congressional inquiries, and incidents or accidents involving aircraft.

8. Proposes the designation of APDs and pilot examiners.

9. Responsible for administering ATP flight assessments, additional type ratings, and Flight Engineer (F/E) certifications, including proficiency and initial qualification tests.

10. Evaluates training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, approving or rejecting these programs as necessary.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for an Aviation Safety Inspector in the 1825 series as specified in the OPM qualifications standards.

General Requirements:
  1. No more than two incidents of Federal aviation regulations violations in the past five years.
  2. A valid State driver's license.
  3. Proficiency in the English language.
  4. No substance abuse issues that could impact job performance.
  5. A high school diploma or equivalent.
Medical Requirements:

Applicants must be physically capable of performing the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector role safely and efficiently, with or without reasonable accommodation. This includes meeting specific vision and hearing standards and possessing a valid second-class medical certificate when required.

Additional Information

This position may be subject to a background investigation and may require a probationary period. The selected candidate may also need to file a financial disclosure statement.
