Key Responsibilities:The Iron Worker Foreman will be responsible for:
- Managing skilled ironworkers in various tasks, including the setup of hoisting equipment and the placement of structural steel components.
- Utilizing rigging techniques to secure steel members for lifting.
- Communicating effectively with equipment operators to ensure precise placement of steel structures.
- Guiding steel members into position using tag lines.
- Adjusting steel members into approximate positions while supported by hoisting devices.
- Utilizing tools such as turnbuckles and jacks to secure steel members in their final positions.
- Aligning bolt holes in steel members using appropriate tools.
- Ensuring the vertical and horizontal alignment of steel members with precision tools.
- Executing cutting and welding tasks to modify steel structures as necessary.
- Managing the transportation and handling of materials and tools.
- Assisting in the positioning and securing of materials during installation.
- Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Adhering to safety protocols and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work within strict accuracy standards.
- Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts to solve practical problems.
- Capability to plan tasks and select appropriate tools.
- Skill in visualizing solid objects from technical drawings.
- Competence in evaluating information against measurable standards.
The physical requirements for this role include:
- Regular communication and auditory skills.
- Frequent use of hands for handling tools and materials.
- Occasional standing, walking, climbing, and balancing.
- Ability to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities including close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with relevant experience in the field. Familiarity with industry practices and procedures is essential. The role typically operates under direct supervision, with established guidelines to follow.
