Vice President of Cybersecurity Engineering

Position Overview

The Vice President of Cybersecurity Engineering is tasked with architecting, executing, and overseeing a comprehensive cybersecurity framework that aligns with the strategic objectives of the organization. This leadership role is crucial in fortifying the enterprise's cybersecurity defenses against evolving threats while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.


Key Responsibilities

This position encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the cybersecurity posture of the organization:

  • Strategic Leadership: Formulate and implement a robust cybersecurity engineering strategy that aligns with corporate goals and legal standards.
  • Risk Management: Provide strategic risk assessments for IT initiatives, including the evaluation of technical controls and capabilities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess and enhance cybersecurity practices by leveraging technological advancements and industry best practices.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Participate actively in due diligence and integration strategies during M&A activities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary representative for cybersecurity matters to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Roadmap Development: Own the 18-month technology roadmap and the 3-year strategic cybersecurity plan.

Enterprise Security Management

Oversee the effectiveness of cybersecurity platforms and systems while educating leadership on risk mitigation strategies:

  • Enhance cybersecurity capabilities through ongoing evaluation of threats and testing.
  • Prepare detailed security reports for executive leadership, providing insights into risk profiles and compliance statuses.
  • Promote secure development practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

People Management

Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to establish trust and facilitate effective communication:

  • Act as a liaison between cybersecurity and other business units.
  • Manage communication plans that outline deliverables and reporting frequencies.
  • Direct day-to-day team operations and oversee project milestones.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, architecture, or operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and compliance standards.
  • Exceptional communication skills to convey complex cybersecurity issues to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing teams and manage budgets effectively.

Work Environment

This role operates in a dynamic and collaborative environment, requiring occasional availability for incidents and audits. Up to 10% travel may be necessary.
