Job Summary

Cayuga Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Cardiologist to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a Cardiologist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality medical care to patients, diagnosing and treating various cardiovascular conditions, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care
    • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and assessments to identify cardiovascular conditions and develop personalized treatment plans.
    • Prescribe medication and other appropriate therapies to manage cardiovascular conditions.
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging to inform treatment decisions.
    • Perform medical procedures and surgeries when necessary to treat cardiovascular conditions.
    • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
    • Provide patient education to empower patients to manage their cardiovascular health.
  • Communication
    • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure seamless care coordination and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in a timely fashion to ensure continuity of care.
  • Clinical Expertise
    • Stay current with the latest medical research, treatments, and technologies to provide evidence-based care.
    • Participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and peer review activities to stay up-to-date with best practices.
    • Collaborate with other specialists and healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and outcomes.
    • Work collaboratively with Advanced Practice Providers to ensure comprehensive care.
    • Participate in the education of clinical learners (residents, APP students, etc.) to foster the next generation of healthcare professionals.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and ensure safe care.
  • Ethical and Professional Standards
    • Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards of medical practice to maintain patient trust and confidence.
    • Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy to ensure respectful care.
    • Comply with all relevant laws and regulations to ensure compliance and accountability.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school required.
  • Must have successfully completed a residency or fellowship commensurate with area of specialty.
  • Be board certified or eligible in the appropriate specialty, by a board acceptable to Cayuga Medical Center.
  • Obtain and maintain an unrestricted Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration.
  • Obtain Medical Staff Privileges within the Health system.
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in applicable state required.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based medicine.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion, empathy, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and CME.
