Job Overview

Position Summary: The Production Planner plays a crucial role in orchestrating, scheduling, and managing production processes to ensure the effective creation of products. This position requires collaboration across various departments to achieve production targets while ensuring a seamless flow of materials and information. The Planner is responsible for maintaining precise records of production orders and providing updates to management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commence the planning process based on client orders.
  • Create and uphold comprehensive production schedules to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Assess shop workload and capacity, ensuring the availability of necessary resources.
  • Collaborate with the Production Management team to enhance shop capacity and resource distribution.
  • Work alongside the procurement team to guarantee timely access to materials and components.
  • Track purchase orders and oversee work orders for prompt delivery.
  • Examine production data to pinpoint and address bottlenecks, implementing effective solutions.
  • Notify relevant departments of potential issues, suggest corrective actions, and keep management informed about work status, material availability, and challenges.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of production activities, inventory levels, and work-in-progress utilizing ERP/MRP systems.
  • Engage with engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing, and other teams.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Exercise independent judgment in critical production planning decisions.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior planners as necessary.
  • Carry out additional relevant tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support production goals.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contract obligations.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is necessary; further education or certification is preferred, such as a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in production planning, scheduling, inventory management, materials control, and processing work orders in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Experience in an AS9100 environment is advantageous.
  • A strong understanding of production processes, inventory management, and supply chain principles is essential.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems; Infor VISUAL is preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret Bill of Materials (BOM) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required.
  • Capability to prioritize multiple tasks, with strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.

We are open to considering candidates with varying levels of experience based on their skills and qualifications.

Experience Levels:

  • Level 1: Up to 5 years of experience in production planning or equivalent proven skills and expertise in a related role.
  • Level 2: 5+ years of experience in production planning or equivalent proven skills and expertise in a related role.
  • Level 3: 10+ years of experience in production planning or equivalent proven skills and expertise in a related role.
