Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of all hospital equipment and infrastructure. This role involves a variety of maintenance tasks aimed at preserving the integrity and safety of the Medical Center.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct routine lubrication, cleaning, and preventive maintenance on hospital machinery and facilities.

2. Assemble and install new equipment within the Medical Center premises.

3. Maintain and repair stationary steam boilers and associated machinery using both hand and power tools.

4. Perform daily inspections of boilers, pipelines, and operational equipment to identify leaks or defective components.

5. Monitor equipment performance to detect any malfunctions.

6. Oversee the cleaning of boilers and furnace systems.

7. Inspect and repair boiler fittings, including safety valves, regulators, and automatic control systems.

8. Replace damaged boiler tubes and plates as necessary.

9. Repair and replace high-pressure piping and patch insulation as needed.

10. Refer to technical manuals and specifications to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.

11. Source replacement parts from inventory or prepare requisitions for new purchases.

12. Communicate with the Plant Superintendent regarding repairs that require external services and confirm when equipment is ready for inspections.

13. Execute maintenance tasks during non-standard hours as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent with relevant vocational training.

EXPERIENCE: Up to three months of on-the-job training to familiarize with equipment locations and organizational layout.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

PATIENT INTERACTION: Minimal.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

STANDING: Predominantly standing for the duration of an 8-hour shift.

WALKING: Ability to navigate throughout the facility during an 8-hour shift.

LIFTING: Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and handle tools and equipment components.

VISUAL: Near-visual acuity for interpreting blueprints and specifications.

HEARING: Exposure to noise from machinery operations.


Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
