Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-centric Retail and Rental Shop Associate to join our team at Powder Mountain's private community, Powder Haven. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for providing an unparalleled guest experience, ensuring a clean and organized retail environment, and operating our point-of-sale system with ease.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome guests and create a warm and inviting atmosphere in the retail location.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail floor, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for our guests.
  • Operate our point-of-sale system, including Shopify, with accuracy and efficiency, handling cash transactions with precision.
  • Develop a basic knowledge of ski and snowboard gear, enabling you to offer expert advice to our guests.
  • Open and close the retail location, as well as the point-of-sale system, ensuring a smooth transition between shifts.
  • Assist the rental department as needed, providing exceptional service to our guests.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of Powder Mountain and Powder Haven terrain, advising guests on suitable terrain for an exceptional experience.
  • Collaborate with Powder Haven staff to ensure an ultimate guest experience, fostering a culture of excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate with the Manager/Team Leader on inventory levels, ensuring timely restocking and minimizing stockouts.
  • Obtain and maintain applicable alpine binding certifications, staying up-to-date with industry standards.
  • Fit guests into appropriate-sized boots and skis/snowboards, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
  • Inspect rental assets for visible damage and report issues to Management, maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Become proficient in the use of our rental tech station and POS software, staying ahead of the curve in terms of technology and innovation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of our retail team.
Requirements:
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must adhere to Powder Haven's appearance guidelines, ensuring a professional and polished image.
  • Acquire binding certifications and follow on-training as required, staying up-to-date with industry standards.
  • Minimum of 1 year retail sales experience, preferably in the outdoor industry equipment sector.
  • Basic knowledge of snow helmets, gloves, and goggles, with the ability to explain features and benefits.
  • Ability to operate POS sales machines with ease, handling cash transactions with precision.
  • Able to work with discerning guests in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Able to handle heavy customer demand for extended periods, remaining composed and professional under pressure.
  • Be resourceful and thinking one-step-ahead of the needs of our guests, anticipating and meeting their needs with ease.
  • Reliable transportation or commitment to using UTA, with the ability to work weekends, holidays, evenings, on-call, and occasional overtime.
