Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Anesthetist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a key member of our perioperative team, you will be responsible for administering anesthesia and anesthesia-related care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform pre and post-anesthesia assessments on patients to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Assemble and check anesthesia supplies and equipment to ensure proper function and safety.
  • Stock medication carts and anesthesia machines to ensure timely and efficient care.
  • Assist anesthesiologists in preparing patients for surgery and expediting the operating room schedule.
  • Set up IV fluids for patients in the pre-op holding area and label them with dates and times.
  • Under direct medical supervision, perform general anesthesia, including airway management and all levels of sedation and monitored anesthesia care.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care, including medicating patients as needed, fluid management, respiratory weaning, and endotracheal extubation.
  • Check and order supplies and medications as needed.
Requirements
  • Masters and/or Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Graduation from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).
  • Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • Certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) within one year of graduating from an accredited nurse anesthesia program.
  • American Heart Association BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
