Key Responsibilities:- Conduct pre and post-anesthesia assessments on patients to ensure safe and effective care.
- Prepare and assemble supplies and equipment for anesthetic cases, ensuring proper function and safety.
- Stock medication carts and anesthesia machines to maintain a well-stocked and efficient environment.
- Assist in expediting the operating room schedule by preparing patients for surgery under the supervision of anesthesiologists.
- Set up IV fluids for each patient in the pre-op holding area, labeling them with dates and times for accurate tracking.
- Under direct medical supervision, perform general anesthesia, including airway management and all levels of sedation and monitored anesthesia care in an anesthetizing location.
- Provide post-anesthesia care, including medicating patients as needed, fluid management, respiratory weaning, and endotracheal extubation.
- Check and order supplies and medications as needed to maintain a well-stocked environment.
- Masters and/or Doctoral degree in a related field is required.
- Graduation from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) is required.
- Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State is required.
- Certification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) within one year of graduating from an accredited nurse anesthesia program is required.
- American Heart Association BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
