Transmission and Distribution Standards Engineer

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Transmission and Distribution Standards Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Power Delivery department, you will be responsible for creating, revising, and updating engineering standards that affect all levels of distribution and transmission systems design.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with internal groups to evaluate external suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring material integrity and reliability.
- Interpret relevant federal, state, and governing body regulations, as well as expertise in material failure modes and inspection techniques.
- Support procurement efforts to increase material redundancy and resolve material shortages.
- Develop and maintain publications describing material specifications and installation procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements.
- Lead investigations into equipment failures, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Pursue and analyze new technologies for cost reduction, reliability improvement, and wildfire mitigation.
- Provide field support to address technical challenges and ensure safe operation.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
- Understanding of governing body rules, regulations, and requirements in engineering standards.
- Understanding of material failure modes and their detection.
- Fundamental understanding of transmission and distribution system layouts and key components.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively to peers and larger groups.
- For Engineer II level: demonstrated ability to find effective solutions to problems, and a minimum of two years of experience in designing distribution or transmission systems.
- For Senior Engineer level: ability to research and identify applicable governing body rules, and a minimum of five years of experience in designing distribution or transmission systems.
- For Senior Engineer II level: ability to competently identify and interpret governing body rules, and a minimum of six years of experience in designing distribution or transmission systems.
- For Principal level: expert ability to identify and interpret governing body rules, and a minimum of ten years of experience in designing distribution or transmission systems.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
- Advanced degree in EE or ME with emphasis on power.
- Professional Engineering License.
