POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a Spacecraft Systems Engineer to play a pivotal role in the design and execution of Momentus' Space Vehicles. The ideal candidate should be energetic, innovative, flexible, and excel in a collaborative, fast-paced setting, with a strong enthusiasm for spacecraft product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and oversee system requirements for spacecraft hardware and software
  • Perform analyses to select appropriate spacecraft hardware
  • Assist in validating system and subsystem requirements
  • Lead evaluations of system design and conduct technical program reviews
  • Supervise spacecraft harnessing and interface design
  • Engage in discussions regarding regulatory and customer payloads
  • Develop and implement test plans to assess spacecraft and subsystem performance
  • Support assembly, integration, and testing planning for flight vehicles and subsystems
  • Formulate and refine risk mitigation strategies
  • Assist in managing non-conformances and hardware challenges
  • Provide support for on-orbit operations and resolution of flight anomalies

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in defining requirements and executing verification strategies
  • Demonstrated history of conducting system-level trade studies
  • Expertise in developing power, communications, and mass budgets
  • Prior experience leading technical teams through system-level reviews
  • Background in spacecraft mission analysis, design, and assembly, integration, and testing
  • Able to work independently
  • Strong technical and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication abilities

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Comprehensive knowledge and diverse experience in satellite or space systems across various disciplines, including design, testing, operation, maintenance, and configuration/data management
  • Experience in integrating and testing spacecraft avionics hardware
  • Prior experience leading technical teams through system-level reviews
  • Familiarity with spacecraft avionics functions, failure modes, and debugging techniques
  • Background in spacecraft mechanical design, assembly, and quality assurance principles
  • Understanding of structural vibration and thermal vacuum testing campaigns in space systems
  • Experience in spaceflight operations and concept of operations development
  • Involvement in designing, producing, and/or testing space hardware with proven success in orbit
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with government entities
  • U.S. Security Clearance

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • BS and/or MS degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
  • 3-6 years of relevant professional experience

Compensation:

  • Annual Base Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000
  • The base salary is one aspect of a comprehensive compensation package and will be determined based on qualifications, skills, education, and experience.
