With a focus on early childhood education, creativity, health, and cultural awareness, CMOM serves as a vital resource for families and educators. Our 38,000 square-foot facility attracts approximately 350,000 visitors annually, while our outreach initiatives extend our impact to schools, libraries, and community centers.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
CMOM is seeking enthusiastic and imaginative individuals to serve as Public Programs Experience Facilitators. These facilitators will engage children (ages birth-12) and their families in a variety of enriching experiences across disciplines such as visual arts, movement, music, early science, and literacy. Our facilitators are committed to nurturing a love of learning and helping children discover their unique strengths.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver a range of drop-in programs and activities, including art-making, storytelling, and facilitated play, along with movement activities for visiting families and children.
  • Support the maintenance and quality control of exhibition spaces, ensuring that books, toys, art supplies, and teaching materials are organized and accessible.
  • Assist in the planning and preparation of future family-oriented programs.
  • Create an inviting atmosphere for families by welcoming children and caregivers, guiding them through activities, and providing necessary materials and information.
  • Collaborate with the Museum Clean Team to ensure program areas and exhibit spaces are clean and well-maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with young children and families in informal or formal educational settings, such as museums, preschools, or afterschool programs.
  • A passion for learning and a commitment to ongoing professional development in arts education, early childhood, health, and S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
  • Ability to engage with children and families from diverse backgrounds with enthusiasm and respect.
  • Strong initiative, creative problem-solving skills, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively convey educational content and the values of arts and science-based programs.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Background in inquiry-based teaching and dynamic storytelling.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another language is advantageous.
  • Experience in performing or visual arts, as well as early childhood development or education.
  • Experience working with children with special needs is a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree in arts education or early childhood education is preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Availability of 3-4 days per week, including one weekend day, is required. Attendance at orientation and professional development workshops is mandatory.

COMPENSATION:
Hourly wage: $19.25/hour/non-exempt.
