Job Summary

As a Phlebotomist I at PathGroup, you will be responsible for performing daily phlebotomy activities in a professional and courteous manner. This includes interacting with clients, patients, and other PathGroup personnel, as well as performing forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet customers and treat them with courtesy and respect.
  • Collect specimens accurately and on time, following established procedures.
  • Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods in a clear and courteous manner.
  • Reduce patient anxiety by providing a calm environment for patients before, during, and after the collection process.
  • Dispose of biohazard materials and contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
  • Enter patient and specimen information into the computer system with attention to detail.
  • Communicate with clients to confirm orders and verify test information.
  • Research test and client information using the lab computer system.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.
  • Maintain daily records and logs, and assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data.
  • Perform basic clerical duties, including filing, faxing, and preparing mail.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Phlebotomist Certification preferred (required in Louisiana).
  • Prior job-related experience preferred.
