OVERVIEW

The California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) is committed to shaping the future of counseling by training professionals who adopt a holistic, relational, and culturally aware approach to psychotherapy. Our Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology (MA-CP) Program aims to develop proficient practitioners through specialized training in diverse counseling techniques, ensuring our graduates are equipped with a license-eligible degree for LMFT and/or LPCC qualifications in California.

We are in search of dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced adjunct faculty to enhance our vibrant program. As a member of our faculty, you will significantly contribute to our mission and vision by instructing specialized courses across five program concentrations, which include:

  • Integral Counseling Psychology (ICP)
  • Community Mental Health (CMH)
  • Drama Therapy (PDT)
  • Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA)
  • Somatic Psychology (SOM)

WHAT WE PROVIDE:

  1. Varied Teaching Opportunities: Courses are offered during fall, spring, and summer semesters, with options for in-person, weekend, and online/hybrid formats. Most courses are conducted on campus.
  2. Dynamic Curriculum: Teach essential courses that resonate with our values of Specialized Training, DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging), Integral Education, and Social Responsibility.

Job Requirements:

WHAT WE SEEK:

  • Clinical License: A current, relevant clinical license (e.g., MFT, LPCC, LCSW, PsyD, or MD) is preferred but not mandatory. We welcome applications from pre-licensed individuals who align with our mission and values.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of post-licensure clinical experience is preferred, though not essential. We appreciate diverse experiences and perspectives and are open to candidates with varying levels of clinical and professional backgrounds.
  • Education: A Master's degree in Counseling Psychology or a closely related field is required. Advanced degrees or additional certifications are advantageous and will be viewed favorably.
    • Teaching Experience: Proven experience in teaching or training relevant to our course offerings is preferred. We also encourage individuals with significant practical experience and a strong commitment to education to apply.

COMPENSATION

The salary range is: $1242 - $2090 per unit

NOTES TO CANDIDATES

  • Location: Most courses are taught in-person on campus, with several online/asynchronous sections available.
  • Restrictions: Due to state authorization regulations, CIIS cannot currently consider faculty applicants who reside in Kentucky, Idaho, Iowa, Rhode Island, Tennessee, or the District of Columbia.
  • Working Conditions: Duties are primarily performed in an office environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically Monday through Friday.
  • Background Check: Due to the sensitivity and requirements of this position, candidates should expect to undergo and be cleared of an employment background/criminal check if an offer is extended. Proof of educational degree(s), licenses, or credentials pertinent to the position may also be required.
  • Visa Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
