Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Courtroom Clerk to provide complex support to our judges and manage the juvenile delinquency and juvenile dependency caseload.
Key Tasks:
- Perform data entry, process documents, judgments, and orders, and check pleadings submitted to the court for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and distribute a variety of notices to parties, including attorneys.
- Answer questions, in person and over the phone, from attorneys, parties, agencies, and the public about court policies and procedures for juvenile cases.
- Provide coverage for the front office and other judicial support positions in the judicial district as needed.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three (3) years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
- Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
- Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
- Skill demonstrating tact and diplomacy when providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
- Experience explaining processes, procedures, or policies.
- Skill in writing and in reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time position, and the work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week. Occasional irregular hours or overtime work during evenings and weekends may be required. Occasional travel between the Crook County Circuit Court in Prineville and the in Madras; this may require travel during inclement weather. Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds. Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma. Potential exposure to hostile people or violent situations. This position may be exposed to disturbing or hazardous court exhibits. Long periods of sitting or standing. Regular use of the following equipment: electronic recording equipment, telephone, OJD-assigned computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
