The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager is a critical role within BWT LLC, responsible for developing and executing the company's Corporate Safety Strategic Plan. This position requires a strong understanding of safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the activities of plant-level Safety Coordinators to ensure compliance with safety and environmental policies.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing safety and health-related programs and activities, identifying areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement a corporate Safety and Environmental Strategy across all facilities, aligning with company goals and objectives.
- Identify hazardous conditions or actions at plants that may cause injury, illness, or property damage, and take corrective action to mitigate risks.
- Ensure timely completion of all mandatory safety and environmental reporting for each location.
- Assist in managing safety programs, including planning, organizing, budgeting, training, and tracking execution of activities to achieve safety objectives.
- Maintain oversight of all localized safety, health, and environmental training programs at both corporate and plant site levels.
- Initiate new training programs that align with new plant operations and risks as operations change over time.
- Conduct inspections and audits to assess safety, health, and environmental risks associated with equipment, materials, processes, facilities, or abilities.
- Build a reporting system for reporting near misses in plant safety and reinforce the culture to do so.
- Provide employees and managers with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize hazards and perform their jobs safely and effectively.
- Perform accident investigations to determine the facts related to an accident or incident, and report findings.
- Maintain safety and health information to meet government requirements, as well as to provide data for problem-solving and decision-making.
- Attend training sessions and webinars to stay up-to-date on new or emerging threats and changing regulations.
- Responsible for monthly safety data reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, at all levels.
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work constructively in a team environment.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel as needed.
- Must have experience in managing safety programs in a dispersed multi-site manufacturing plant environment.
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
The EHS Manager will work in a normal office atmosphere, with extended periods of time traveling between BWT facilities. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
