Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Environmental Technician to join our team at Trinity Health. As an Environmental Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining the grounds, community, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the grounds, community, and equipment in a clean, safe, and efficient manner.
  • Perform repairs on community equipment, minor kitchen equipment, and HVAC systems.
  • Install shelving, make adjustments and repairs on cabinets, repair and install cove base and handrails.
  • Mount pictures, bulletin boards, perform curtain rod and cubicle track repairs, install, repair, and/or replace floor tile.
  • Perform routine servicing of grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., including sidewalk snow removal; salting; removal of debris; and keeping walkways and entrances clean and orderly.
  • Follow established safety precautions, including fire safety, when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, sanitary, and attractive manner.
  • Ensure established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing environmental services procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Applicable trade school education preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a healthcare mechanic and successful completion of MECH Senior Certified Mechanic Test preferred.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, as well as various mechanical and electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
  • Previous experience working in long-term care or with the geriatric population preferred.
Working Conditions

Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work parameters. Must be able to see, hear, and smell or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Primarily works inside with frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, lifting, sitting, walking, bending, and lifting. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 3 1/2 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 10 feet.

May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents in emergency situations.
