Position SummaryThe Accounting Specialist will report directly to the Managing Director of Finance. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally organized, efficient, and systematic, possessing experience with accounting software. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries and reconciling cash accounts on a daily and monthly basis within the General Ledger accounting software. This role requires a collaborative team player who is aligned with the KIPP Memphis educational model and is dedicated to fostering a network of high-performing schools that empower all students with the academic, character, and life skills essential for success in high school, college, and beyond.
Key Responsibilities- Process and categorize all invoices for the appropriate school or department.
- Code and submit invoices for SST in Concur.
- Conduct manual check runs in Abila.
- Manually enter and submit client-paid invoices.
- Add new vendors in Concur and Abila.
- Deliver SST deposits to the bank.
- Scan and upload mailed invoices to Concur.
- Prepare positive pay documentation for the controller.
- Upload invoices and checks from Concur to Abila.
- Reconcile monthly credit card transactions and expenses.
- Prepare journal entries for various accounts.
- Collaborate with school management, auditors, and federal programs consultants to ensure accurate and timely financial and compliance reporting.
- File W-9 forms for new vendors.
- Undertake additional assignments or projects as required.
- High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2-4 years of prior accounting experience in an educational environment.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Results-driven mindset.
- Team-oriented and self-motivated.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft applications.
- Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, and related applications.

The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience, educational background, and credentials.
ADA Requirements- Prolonged periods of standing and actively monitoring student behavior.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
- Ability to navigate the classroom and adjust height as necessary to engage with students.
- Facilitate classroom transitions by moving through hallways and navigating stairs with students.
