Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Speech courses at Lone Star College. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Speech or Communication with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in communication coursework unrelated to mass communications.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. They will also submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus for each course, and meet with and advise students as needed.

The Adjunct Faculty member will be expected to evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress. They will also maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, and attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.

The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, a commitment to diversity, and the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people. They will also have a demonstrated ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and the effective use of technology.

Responsibilities

  1. Teach Speech courses at a variety of times and locations
  2. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  3. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  4. Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  5. Meet with and advise students as needed
  6. Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
  7. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  8. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required

Requirements

  • Master's in Speech or Communication with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in communication coursework unrelated to mass communications
