Position Overview:
The primary purpose of this role is to facilitate the processing of healthcare applications for patients at the Medical Center, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The position necessitates that the staff efficiently initiates, processes, and collects all essential documentation as per program guidelines while upholding patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and other relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
As a vital link to the state of New Jersey and NJPCA, the incumbent will:

  • Engage with patients regarding Unreimbursed Care, Presumptive Eligibility, and New Jersey Family Care applications through personal interactions, phone calls, and written correspondence.
  • Reach out to patients to gather any additional or missing information required for the completion of state and local governmental applications.
  • Ensure that 100% of patient files are equipped with all necessary documentation for state and local programs.
  • Guarantee that all billing personnel are well-versed in initiating eligibility applications for state, county, and grant programs.
  • Supervise the activities of enrollment representatives from various Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs).
  • Maintain a log of Unreimbursed Care patients for reporting purposes.
  • Follow up on Unreimbursed Care applications for patients who do not meet the criteria for New Jersey Family Care.
  • Identify in the PCN billing system when a patient is approved for services within the Medical Center.
  • Provide training for both existing and new staff on all state and local programs.
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare reports.
  • Participate in health forums and off-site activities.
  • Offer coverage as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to adapt to changes effectively.
  • Capacity to follow instructions, whether communicated orally or in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to completing tasks thoroughly.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to complete assignments promptly.
  • Familiarity with the policies and procedures of the Medical Center.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills.
  • Ability to interact positively with patients.

Language Preference: Spanish speaking preferred.
