Position Summary
The Anesthesia Technician plays a crucial role in the Department of Anesthesia by providing clinical support. This includes managing supplies and equipment, as well as performing various tasks that contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of anesthetic care.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in quality control and maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
- Assist in evaluating new products and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records and manage patient charges effectively.
- Ensure timely repair or replacement of malfunctioning equipment.
- Participate in training sessions and departmental meetings to enhance team collaboration.
- Prepare and set up all necessary equipment and supplies for anesthesia procedures.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities within the department.
- Foster positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and their families.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of anesthesia equipment.
- Support anesthesia providers during procedures, including fluid management.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by monitoring and documenting issues.
- Participate in departmental committees as needed.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment through effective housekeeping practices.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
- Prepare and manage patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems.
- Utilize problem-solving skills to address departmental challenges.
- Ensure proper disposal of non-controlled pharmaceuticals.
- Engage in self-assessment and seek opportunities for professional development.
- Support compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Assist in orienting new staff and students to the role of anesthesia technician.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

- Quick learning and evaluation of new equipment and procedures.
- Ability to provide individualized care considering age, culture, and developmental factors.
