We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Community Support Specialist to join our team at the St. Louis Arc. As a Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to live their best lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Skills for Independence: Assist individuals in developing skills that increase their independence, self-esteem, and participation in the community.
  • Plan Meaningful Days: Assist individuals in planning a meaningful day that matches their interests and goals.
  • Engage in Community Activities: Engage in activities out in the community, such as local parks, baseball games, and music therapy sessions.
  • Transportation: Transport individuals to and from activities in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
  • Personal Care: Assist individuals with personal care, including restroom, meals, and dressing.
  • Documentation: Complete community events reports, medication administration records, progress notes, and other required documentation according to agency and funder timelines.

Requirements
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in customer service, education, medical, or human services, preferably supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience, such as knowledge of best practices for supporting people with developmental disabilities.
  • Age and Driving Experience: At least 21 years old and three years of driving experience.
  • Reliable Vehicle: Reliable vehicle (4 seat belts and working heating/cooling) and valid driver's license and auto insurance at time of hire.
  • Ability to Multitask: Ability to multitask and make decisions independently, such as emergency calls.
  • Training: Ability to complete CPR/FA, L1MA, and Mandt training, provided by St. Louis Arc at no cost.
