Job Summary:
Clinical professionals with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care and a commitment to safety are encouraged to apply for the role of Plasma Processing Technician at CSL Plasma. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the collection and processing of plasma for life-saving therapies.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough medical evaluations of donors to determine suitability for plasma donation.
- Administer approved immunizations and provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff.
- Collaborate with the Center Medical Director and/or Center Physician to respond to medically related questions and provide information on donor suitability.
- Perform medical history reviews and health assessments on donors, assessing results of donor screening and laboratory tests to determine initial and continuing donor suitability.
- Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results, referring them to community facilities for follow-up and counseling as needed.
- Explain informed consent to applicant donors, providing clear opportunities for them to refuse participation and obtaining signatures and dates certifying informed consent.
- Manage employee hepatitis B and influenza immunization programs, including administration of immunizations.
- Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system, following all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Active state licensure from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, naturopathic training program, or medical school required.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in a healthcare environment or one year of clinical experience from a vocational or nursing institution.
- Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment preferred.
- Ability to make and analyze a physical assessment of heart, lung sounds, signs of drug use, etc.
- Ability to instruct donors, staff, and community regarding the benefit of plasma donation programs.
