Job Overview

WSB LLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Manager to lead our Municipal Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing various engineering projects within a municipal setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities including client meetings, public hearings, and public involvement events to ensure projects are completed within prescribed time frames and budgets.
  • Anticipate client needs, biases, and preferences and tailor communication and work output accordingly.
  • Lead a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring project progress in multiple locations.
  • Work directly with municipal client staff to deliver CIP programs and projects, potentially on-site in a staff augmentation setting.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with municipal clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring project requirements are met.
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Develop project budgets, allocate resources effectively, and monitor expenditures to ensure cost control.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with clients as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges, develop risk mitigation strategies, and resolve issues that may arise during project execution.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, review contractor performance, and ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of project/client correspondence and documentation.
  • Participate in and lead business development activities to new and existing clients through plans, leads, and participates in client meetings and networking events.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, implement best practices, and promote innovation within the municipal engineering department.
  • Understand alternative funding sources for municipal projects and secure funding.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school.
  • Registration as a professional engineer (or the ability to obtain registration within six months).
  • 5+ years of municipal experience; direct experience working for a municipality is a plus.
  • Experience in managing municipal CIP programs and projects, clients, and staff in this market.
  • A history of delivering projects with positive customer service experiences.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • The ability and desire to develop an understanding of, or even anticipate, the client's needs.
