Description
The Addiction Recovery Specialist is responsible for performing thorough evaluations of individuals struggling with substance use to identify suitable treatment pathways and levels of care necessary for effective recovery. This role involves providing individual and group counseling sessions aimed at enhancing mental and emotional well-being. The specialist will assist clients in overcoming their dependencies and adapting to significant life transitions. Education and training on relapse prevention and coping strategies will also be provided. The specialist will offer encouragement and support to clients facing challenges related to addiction and substance misuse.
This position will primarily operate within various health facilities, engaging with individuals in need of support.

Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct assessments to identify substance use disorders and determine the most appropriate treatment and support services.
2. Facilitate referrals to additional services as needed to ensure clients have access to comprehensive care.
3. Provide individual and group counseling sessions to foster recovery and promote positive behavioral health.
4. Develop and implement tailored treatment plans based on clinical expertise and patient needs.
5. Utilize a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to collaborate effectively with clients in their recovery journey.
6. Monitor medication usage in partnership with medical professionals.
7. Perform crisis interventions and advocate for clients to coordinate necessary services during emergencies.
8. Stay informed about advancements in counseling practices through continuous education and professional development.
9. Collaborate with health center staff to enhance therapeutic communication and client engagement.
10. Maintain strong interpersonal skills, working both independently and as part of a team while representing the department professionally.
11. Document patient outcomes and productivity accurately.
12. Ensure compliance with all documentation standards and regulations.
13. Participate in departmental committees and workgroups as assigned.
14. Engage actively in team meetings and discussions regarding patient care.
15. Perform additional duties as required for this role.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling, along with a minimum of one year of relevant counseling experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and postgraduate training. A valid driver's license is required. Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state must be obtained within the initial probationary period. Experience working with both adult and pediatric populations is preferred.
