Position Overview:
The Facilities Maintenance Manager is accountable for the overall operational condition of the facility and its assets.
In this dual reporting structure, the Facilities Maintenance Manager will report to the Plant Manager regarding safety, environmental, quality, and administrative matters, while also reporting to the Regional Maintenance and Reliability Manager for technical operational performance and asset management concerns.
This role entails strategic and tactical oversight of asset management initiatives within the plant, aiming to enhance productivity and operational efficiencies while reducing downtime.
Key responsibilities include the alignment and execution of Maintenance and Reliability practices, programs, processes, operational effectiveness, continuous improvement methodologies, proactive maintenance and repairs, product design and planning, contractor oversight, vendor and spare parts management, best practice applications, training, and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively ensure that all employees, visitors, vendors, and contractors adhere to safety policies and procedures.
Support production departments in safety and quality compliance, including audits.
Align, deploy, and execute the Maintenance and Reliability vision and strategy.
Manage and implement preventative maintenance and reliability initiatives.
Lead root-cause analysis processes within the maintenance team concerning failures, execute corrective action plans.
Develop, review, and analyze maintenance and reliability performance metrics.Assist production leadership in training operations personnel on proper equipment operations, cleaning, lubrication, troubleshooting, and adjustments.
Enhance the effectiveness of the storeroom and spare parts inventory to ensure availability of necessary components.Coordinate maintenance scheduling to align with production timelines.
Maintain comprehensive equipment history, work history, and preventative maintenance programs using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Ensure documentation of all maintenance activities.
Manage ongoing maintenance and reliability projects focused on asset reliability and defect elimination.
Oversee personnel management and development, including retention, recruitment, and team engagement.
Identify training needs and facilitate training sessions for maintenance staff, emphasizing precision skills, safety practices, and work standards.
Provide technical support as required.Actively manage the maintenance team, coaching employees to achieve their full potential through effective, consistent, and fair feedback.
Additional Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years in Industrial Maintenance Management or supervision of a maintenance department, encompassing Safety & Health, Environmental, Quality, Production, and Project management.
Experience in continuous manufacturing environments (preferably in food production, feed, milling, or chemical sectors).
Strong verbal and written communication skills with colleagues at various organizational levels.
Ability to interact courteously with employees, vendors, and contractors.
Proficient in installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and equipment.
Electrical knowledge is advantageous.
Demonstrated experience with predictive and preventive maintenance tools and software.
Proven experience in training and mentoring staff on predictive and preventative maintenance processes, tools, programs, and safe work practices.
Competent in using computers and various software for purchasing, shipping & receiving, inventory control, scheduling, recordkeeping, asset management, and business communication.
Ability to research issues and comprehend diagrams, written, and oral instructions.Thorough understanding of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions for assigned duties.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, walk long distances, stand for extended periods, climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, bend, kneel, and operate tools in extreme temperature conditions.
Flexible schedule with willingness to participate in on-call rotations and after-hours troubleshooting, including nights and weekends.
