Maintenance Superintendent

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and reliability of the facility's assets, ensuring optimal productivity and operational efficiency. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills to manage a team of maintenance personnel and implement effective maintenance strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement maintenance and reliability strategies to minimize downtime and improve productivity
- Lead and manage a team of maintenance personnel, providing guidance and training on best practices and safety procedures
- Coordinate with production departments to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Manage and implement preventative maintenance and reliability activities, including root-cause analysis and corrective action
- Develop and analyze maintenance and reliability metrics to inform decision-making
- Collaborate with production leadership to train operations personnel on equipment operation and maintenance
- Manage the storeroom and spare parts inventory to ensure availability of necessary parts
- Coordinate maintenance work with production schedules to minimize disruptions
- Maintain accurate equipment history, work history, and preventative maintenance records using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Ensure all maintenance work is properly documented
- Manage ongoing maintenance and reliability projects, including asset reliability and defect elimination
- Responsible for people management and development, including retention, recruiting, and team engagement
- Identify training opportunities and facilitate training sessions for maintenance personnel
- Provide ad-hoc technical support as needed
Requirements:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in Industrial Maintenance Management or Supervision of a maintenance department
- Experience leading teams in Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) processes
- Experience in continuous manufacturing/production environment (preferably in food production, feed, milling, or chemical industries)
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at various levels of the organization
- Strong ability to install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems and equipment
- Demonstrable experience in the use of predictive and preventive maintenance tools and software
- Ability to use computers and various types of software for purchasing, shipping & receiving, inventory control, scheduling, recordkeeping, asset management, and business communication
- Ability to research problems and understand diagrams, and written and oral instructions
- Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., walk long distances, stand for long periods, climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, bending, kneeling, working with tools, and work in extreme temperature conditions
