Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Development Engineer to join our team at Ontech Talent. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and launching new wet friction materials for our extensive customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new products and processes to meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing facilities to implement new products and processes.
  • Provide technical assistance to Sales Managers and Product Managers.
  • Work with customer engineering departments on technical data and the application of new or revised products.
  • Develop friction materials in transmission and brakes for off-highway and industrial applications.
  • Supervise and pilot/fabricate test materials manufactured in plant environments.
  • Apply Six Sigma techniques to develop materials to meet customer requirements.
  • Interface with sales personnel on customer visits to understand conditions under which manufactured parts must operate.
  • Collaborate with production engineering to introduce and further develop new materials.
  • Assist production when difficulties occur in manufacturing parts in the engineer's product area.
  • Interface with test engineers to develop new test methods and procedures.
  • Assist quality control when necessary.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of ISO/QS documentation and control systems.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Paper Science, Physics, Composite Materials & Structures, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in materials science, manufacturing, process development, product development, or formulation.
  • Theoretical knowledge of materials science and background in analytical techniques relating to the use of such materials.
  • Experience with the use of materials in friction applications such as brakes, clutches, and drive trains.
  • Familiarity with paper and elastomeric material processing and fabrication.
  • Practical experience with Six Sigma techniques.
