Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and perform clerical and clinical activities in the Medical Oncology Office
  • Prepare and maintain patient charts, including insurance, registration, and laboratory reports
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments, scans, and tests, and confirm appointments with patients
  • Receive and respond to patient-related phone calls, and relay diagnostic test results to patients as directed by physicians
  • Assist physicians with procedures such as bone marrow aspirations and biopsies, paracentesis, and thoracentesis
  • Perform vital signs, medical history, and other tasks as required
  • Prepare monthly statistical data for reporting to administrators
  • Maintain medical supplies and office supplies, and conduct daily billing of patient accounts
  • Monitor patient insurance for hospital admission pre-certification requirements, and assist with reimbursement issues as needed
  • Complete forms required for continuity of care, such as patient insurance, home health, and hospice
  • Precertify insurance coverage for procedures and treatments ordered by physicians
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; LPN license, CNA certification, or MA certification preferred
  • Four years of healthcare experience preferred, but not required
