Job Overview

This role involves providing expert support as a Flight Test Engineer for the US Air Force Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) Combined Test Force (CTF). The position is integral to a collaborative product team focused on developing and assessing both new and existing capabilities for the CSAR CTF. Candidates should exhibit a proactive attitude and the initiative necessary to support both developmental and operational flight testing in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing technical specifications and system design documents for thoroughness and precision.
  • Creating testing methodologies and technical documentation for operational evaluations of new and modified aircraft systems.
  • Offering technical guidance to military test directors.
  • Engaging in test planning sessions, technical discussions, and design evaluations with relevant program offices and system developers.
  • Presenting testing strategies, objectives, and methodologies to senior management during Concept of Test Board and Test Readiness Reviews.
  • Collaborating with instrumentation and analysis teams to establish data collection and analysis requirements for test missions.
  • Overseeing test missions from control facilities or while in-flight.
  • Performing flight test engineer and test director responsibilities aboard various aircraft, including Air Force HH-60 helicopters.
  • Consulting with clients on flight test matters and outcomes.
  • Applying scientific and technical principles in test planning, execution, analysis, and reporting.
  • Traveling to offsite locations as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to the sensitive nature of customer requirements.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or a related technical field, along with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to perform all functional duties independently at this skill level.
  • Self-motivated expert capable of taking charge of identifying, organizing, coordinating, and executing tasks essential for the successful completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Air Force test and evaluation methodologies for planning, execution, data analysis, and report preparation.
  • Familiarity with acquisition and test management protocols, including coordination with relevant program offices.
  • Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively within an integrated team.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Ability to obtain an FAA Class III Medical Certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in flight testing military aircraft is highly desirable.
  • Experience as a Test Conductor with military systems is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools, such as MATLAB, is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of experimental design concepts and tools, such as JMP or Design-Expert, is preferred.
