Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse I at the Medical University of South Carolina, you will have the opportunity to work in a unique and challenging environment. The 6W Burn Trauma Stepdown Unit is a 24-bed unit that provides care to patients with burn injuries. Our team of nurses works collaboratively with the Burn Physician Team, Trauma Physician Team, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Case Managers, and Social Workers to customize care for patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level.
  • Deliver safe and effective care and interact with other members of the healthcare team to achieve desired results.
  • Work collaboratively with the Burn Physician Team, Trauma Physician Team, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Case Managers, and Social Workers to customize care for patients.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individualized patient care plans.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, identifying and reporting any changes or concerns.
Requirements
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
