Position Summary: As a Lead Polymer Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in our Research and Development team, contributing to the advancement of our product offerings. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment and possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the innovation and development of new adhesive technologies, focusing on acrylic, polyurethane, and epoxy formulations tailored for diverse industrial applications.
  • Utilize your expertise in polymers, catalysts, and modifiers to create differentiated products that meet specific customer needs while adhering to industry standards.
  • Manage the technical aspects of projects, collaborating closely with project managers to ensure successful execution within ITW's structured processes.
  • Conduct comprehensive laboratory evaluations, clearly defining project goals, design requirements, and testing strategies.
  • Engage in patent research to stay informed on competitive advancements and contribute to the generation of intellectual property.
  • Oversee the scale-up process from laboratory formulations to commercial production, ensuring seamless technology transfer and product specifications.
  • Provide ongoing support for existing products, maintaining ITW's reputation for quality through rigorous validation of raw materials and performance.
  • Mentor and guide research lab technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative laboratory environment.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Organic or Polymer Chemistry; PhD preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial R&D, particularly in product development roles.
  • Proven expertise in adhesives and coatings formulation, with a track record of successful product launches.
  • Strong understanding of structure-property relationships in adhesive materials.
  • Extensive experience with polymer characterization techniques and analytical laboratory equipment.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a practical, hands-on approach to scientific challenges.
