Job Summary:

The Medical Technologist performs technical laboratory testing when required. This role is responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures, which require independent judgment and responsibility with minimal supervision by the lead tech and laboratory supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures, which require independent judgment and responsibility with minimal supervision by the lead tech and laboratory supervisor.
  • Document daily QC and corrective action as needed.
  • Perform calibrations, linearity testing, and proficiency testing as required.
  • Enter and verify laboratory results in the LIS.
  • Assist with the training and orientation of departmental personnel.
  • Resolve problems with technical testing, and proficiency testing as required.

  • Resolve problems with technical testing involving methodology, techniques, and instrumentation utilization.
  • Review and evaluate test results and reports for accuracy, precision, readability, and consistency.
  • Collect data, prepare reports, and compile statistics directed.
  • Check supply inventory.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in professional development activities.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Perform related work as required.

Working Conditions:
Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a medical group and laboratory environment.

Qualifications and Education:
  • BS Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences, as approved by the accrediting agencies.
  • Completion of a one year internship program in an accredited institution.
  • One year experience as a medical technologist.
