Job Title: Banquet Captain

At Westin Poinsett, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team. As a key member of our events team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of banquets and events, providing exceptional service to our guests, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and coordinate the setup, service, and breakdown of banquets and events, ensuring that all details are executed to perfection.
  2. Review and verify banquet event orders (BEOs) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  3. Communicate effectively with event planners, vendors, and hotel staff to ensure seamless execution of events.
  4. Train and develop banquet staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide exceptional service.
  5. Participate in the scheduling and planning of events, including verifying staffing levels and adjusting schedules as needed.
  6. Perform the duties of a banquet server as needed, including setup, service, and breakdown of events.
  7. Inspect banquet areas at the end of events to ensure all equipment is returned to its proper place and all areas are clean.
  8. Complete Captain's Report after each event and submit to the appropriate hotel departments.
  9. Close all banquet checks and complete revenue spreadsheets at the end of each day, submitting both to Night Audit.

Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Two years of hotel banquet and/or food and beverage service experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write English required.
  • Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry 30 lbs. required.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions required.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays required.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to maneuver in narrow areas and between seated guests required.
  • Continuous standing for up to eight hours at a time required.
  • Ability to climb up to thirty steps required on a regular basis.
