Fire Alarm Service Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a Fire Alarm Service Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining fire alarm systems to ensure the safety of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and maintain fire alarm systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Diagnose and repair complex electrical and electronic systems, including fire alarm systems, access control systems, and paging systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals to understand system designs and requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, district staff, and other stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to complete service calls and resolve complex issues.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including fire alarm systems, access control systems, and paging systems.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Ability to implement and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.
  • Retain any licenses that are required by National, State, and Local codes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NICET Level II certification.
