Purpose of the Role:

The role involves spearheading the development of sourcing category strategies across various categories and expenditures. Utilizing innovative approaches and negotiation expertise, the position aims to bolster revenue growth while enhancing existing operations and maximizing value for PGP International.

The core responsibilities encompass the creation and execution of category strategies for significant categories within PGP International. This includes sourcing and overseeing the supply of rice ingredients and vegetable proteins to support ongoing operations at multiple sites. The position also requires the establishment of essential work processes to facilitate the supply of these ingredients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Promote a safe workplace by adhering to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop strategic category plans and annual sourcing strategies, collaborating with purchasing coordinators and relevant resources to ensure effective sourcing and negotiation.
  • Engage with leadership across Procurement, Operations, Finance, and Sales to formulate and execute contracting strategies that align with customer contracts and business needs.
  • Lead sourcing teams to balance supply and demand effectively over both short and long-term periods.
  • Manage safety stock and master data in alignment with market and operational shifts to meet operational goals.
  • Investigate supply disruptions with the purchasing team and suppliers to identify root causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Monitor market trends and provide updates to leadership, sales teams, and clients.
  • Enhance sustainable procurement practices internally and externally.
  • Develop proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX System to interpret data and create reports for managing key categories.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contract conditions with suppliers to secure optimal value for the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with the Purchasing and Quality Assurance teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work with R&D to clarify requirements for current ingredients and source samples from alternative suppliers for evaluation.
  • Maintain effective communication with all internal departments to ensure timely resolution of potential issues and provide training on technical and commercial aspects of the categories.

Internal: Sales and Marketing, Operations, Procurement, Finance

External: Suppliers

Job Requirements:

Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or business is preferred.

Experience: 5 to 7 years in procurement sourcing and management, ideally within the food industry, with a solid understanding of its key drivers.

Competencies: Strong communication skills, ability to foster positive relationships, team-oriented approach, and a mindset geared towards continuous improvement.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in forecasting tools, ERP systems, and E-sourcing tools, along with strong mathematical skills for data evaluation.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; Spanish is preferred.

Work Environment: Primarily office-based with regular interactions in both office and factory settings.

Physical Requirements: Ability to perform essential functions, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 55 pounds.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel for professional events, training, and supplier visits as necessary.
