Pharmacy Technician Ambulatory Retail

As an Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in processing prescriptions for patients and their families in the clinic setting. Your responsibilities will include collecting medication histories, filling scripts, and coordinating payments in conjunction with pharmacist direction.
Key Accountabilities:
- Determine patient insurance requirements for pre-certification, patient payments, and coverage limitations.
- Maintain communication with ambulatory-based clinical pharmacists, social workers, discharge, and specialty pharmacy program team members to obtain complete and accurate financial information.
- Immediately communicate any issues with coverage to the clinical practice to determine the appropriate next steps.
- Communicate benefit investigation information proactively to the clinical practices and patients.
- Support all myPennPharmacy services as needed.
- Collaborate with internal team members to gather appropriate paperwork, prescriptions, billing information, and/or prescriptions.
- Provide follow-up relating to communication to patients, clinical practices, and families for pharmaceutical needs and/or additional eligibility information to ensure ongoing medication access.
- Interact with medical staff and their designees to obtain complete, accurate, and timely clinical and financial information required for payer reimbursement.
- Provide education to patients and clinical practices regarding patient insurance coverage as it relates to their discharge medications.
Credentials: Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) is required. Education or Equivalent Experience: High school graduate/equivalent is required. You must be able to perform dosage calculations, have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of hospital personnel, perform basic office environment tasks, have the aptitude to maintain proficiency in all Pharmacy computer systems, automated dispensing software and systems, and all technical equipment required to perform duties, and possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and the Internet.
