Position Overview
The Cardiovascular Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the surgical team within the operating rooms of the Cardiovascular Center. This position involves the preparation of sterile instruments and equipment for surgical procedures, as well as the efficient passing of instruments, sponges, and sutures to the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile environments and equipment for surgical operations.
- Assist in the inventory management and sterilization of surgical instruments.
- Facilitate the transfer of patients and instruments as required during procedures.
- Participate in the turnover of instruments to ensure readiness for subsequent surgeries.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the surgical team.

Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
- Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) within one year of employment.
- A minimum of two years of experience as a surgical technologist, including at least one year in a cardiovascular setting.
- Commitment to fostering a positive work environment.
- Availability for on-call duties with a prompt response time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in scrubbing for cardiac, general thoracic, and vascular surgeries.
- Familiarity with family-centered care principles.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow directions effectively.
- Proficient in prioritizing tasks efficiently.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, primarily during day shifts, with potential rotations for afternoon or night shifts, as well as on-call obligations during weekends and holidays.
