Job Title: Lead Engineer - Thermal Management Systems

At GE Aerospace, we are seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer to join our Thermal Management Systems team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative thermal management solutions for our customers and GE products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply your knowledge of energy and thermal management systems to develop innovative solutions to control thermal loads in complex systems such as aerospace systems, renewable energy applications, and medical devices.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of GE product engineers, GE Research team members, and external partners to invent and mature the next generation of energy and thermal management technology.
  • Utilize your experience in modeling, simulation, and/or experimentation to characterize and/or validate novel energy and thermal management components and systems.
  • Contribute to the development and writing of internal and external proposals.
  • Establish and grow an external network of collaborators in academia, government, and industry.
  • Patent your inventions and develop a record of publication via conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements:
  • Doctorate degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline OR Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related discipline with 5 years industrial experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of fluid mechanics and heat transfer applied to thermal management problems.
  • Experience in thermal/energy management systems and/or component development.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Desired Characteristics:
  • 3+ years of work experience in an industrial or laboratory setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of system modeling and/or systems-of-systems modeling.
  • Experience developing engineering models in languages such as EES, Matlab, Python, Fortran, etc.
  • Familiarity with developing system models in Matlab Simulink.
  • Familiarity with the application of computational fluid mechanics tools such as Fluent, CFX, etc.
  • Knowledge of model verification and validation, model calibration, and uncertainty quantification.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with senior leaders and customers with clarity and confidence.
