Job Title: Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney

Diablo Convoy is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Litigation Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Manage Litigation: Oversee and coordinate all aspects of complex commercial litigation, including strategizing, case management, and instructing outside counsel.
  • Cost-Effective Management: Manage outside counsel to ensure cost-effectiveness and provide strategic guidance on case management.
  • Internal Stakeholder Support: Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on litigation-related matters, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Case Preparation: Actively participate in case preparation, including drafting pleadings, depositions, discovery, motions, briefs, affidavits, and other legal documents.
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research and provide in-depth analysis on complex legal issues.
  • Litigation Record Management: Develop and maintain a system to manage litigation records, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible for audit and reference.
  • Stakeholder Updates: Schedule and provide regular updates directly to stakeholders on all litigation matters.
  • Human Resource Claims: Manage human resource claims, including Texas Workers' Comp, slander, and other employee claims.
  • Cross-Jurisdiction Coordination: Coordinate cross-jurisdiction legal functions ancillary to US litigation.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate Degree: Active license to practice law in the state of Texas (multiple states preferred).
  • Complex Litigation Experience: Minimum of 10 years of complex commercial litigation experience with a reputable law firm.
  • Jury Trial Experience: Has handled matters in both state and federal courts, with jury trial experience in Texas.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinker with experience evaluating and determining legal course of action to meet commercial needs.
  • Research and Analytical Skills: Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to exercise sound business judgment and work both independently and as part of a legal team.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Work Ethic: Strong work ethic, with the ability to manage shifting priorities across matters.
  • Industry Experience: Oil/Gas/Energy industry experience preferred, with international experience a plus.
