Job Title: Mental Health Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to join our team as a Mental Health Worker at our Opelika location. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in providing supervision and ensuring the safety of our consumers at our residential facilities.

Job Summary:

This is a full-time position that includes direct care of our individuals living in a residential group home. Your duties will include meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, personal care, medication administration, accurately and timely documenting logbooks and activities, and transportation of clients (with approved driving record). You will also be responsible for supervising consumer activities, ensuring consumer safety, and following a schedule of activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise consumer activities, including completion of daily chores, outings, training, grooming, bathing, toileting, meal-time activities
  • Ensure consumer safety and follow a schedule of activities
  • Assist consumers as needed, including lifting and other physical intervention as needed
  • May administer consumer medication as prescribed by a physician and accompany consumer to medical appointments
  • Report and document incidents and/or unusual problems to supervisory or on-call staff
  • Model appropriate social skills and ensure consumer rights are observed and protected
  • Ensure consumer clothing needs are met and that consumers are provided a suitable living environment
  • Complete program chores as assigned, including sweeping, dusting, cooking, shopping, washing and drying consumer clothing, changing linen
  • Assist with menu planning, following menus approved by dietician, and preparation of meals
  • Ensure that meals are served family style and that appropriate table manners are modeled by staff during meal time
  • Ensure compliance with special diets
  • May schedule consumer appointments
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or GED (or transcripts) from a state-accredited school or source
  • A current, valid driver's license
  • The ability to demonstrate basic computer skills
