Position Overview:

The Music Education Specialist is a dedicated and passionate educator responsible for teaching music to students of various ages. This role involves creating engaging lesson plans and fostering a positive learning atmosphere. The ideal candidate will possess musical proficiency, creativity, and the ability to inspire students while maintaining a supportive and enjoyable educational environment.

COMPENSATION: $16.64 to $20.80 per hour (Dependent on Experience)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Preferred: At least 2 years of experience in teaching or relevant instructional roles.
  • Certification or degree in music or a related field is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated skills in music education.
  • Proficient in English; bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to connect with diverse individuals.
  • Good physical and mental health to meet the demands of the role.
  • Professional demeanor and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with children, parents, and community members in educational settings, including:
    • Ability to engage positively with children of all ages.
    • Awareness of individual student needs.
    • Knowledge of appropriate disciplinary techniques aligned with organizational policies.
    • Capability to manage security and crisis situations while maintaining confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction based on sound educational principles in music.
  • Teach students ranging from beginners to advanced levels.
  • Provide tailored guidance for student development in music.
  • Develop and outline class structures.
  • Create, implement, and demonstrate music practices and performances.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and adhered to by all participants.
  • Maintain a secure and conducive learning environment; report any facility issues to supervisors.
  • Document incidents and accidents accurately and notify relevant personnel.
  • Exhibit integrity, enthusiasm, and sound judgment.
  • Adhere to organizational policies and procedures, including those related to mission protection.
  • Foster a safe, enjoyable, and engaging learning experience for all students.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding scheduling and instructional needs.
  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with students, parents, and staff.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for classes.
  • Promote fairness and equality among all participants.
  • Ensure any changes in the classroom are communicated effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned related to the role of Music Education Specialist.

While performing job duties, employees are regularly required to walk, stand, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach continuously. The role may require lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Proficiency in operating telephones and computers is necessary, along with the ability to access and interpret written information.
