Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Probation Officer. As a key member of our juvenile justice team, you will play a critical role in providing social services to assist in the rehabilitation of law offenders in custody or on probation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular interviews with youth to evaluate their progress and provide guidance on achieving their rehabilitation goals.
  • Develop and implement effective rehabilitation plans, including conditional release and education and employment stipulations.
  • Administer drug and alcohol tests to ensure compliance with substance abuse treatment programs.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate case folders for each assigned youth offender.
  • Provide counseling and support to youth offenders on issues such as drug and alcohol abuse and anger management.
  • Conduct pre-hearing and pre-screening investigations and testify in court regarding offenders' backgrounds and recommend sentences and sentencing conditions.
  • Inform youth offenders of the requirements of conditional release, including office visits, restitution payments, and educational and employment stipulations.
  • Write detailed reports describing youth offenders' progress and provide recommendations for future action.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting or four years of direct case management experience working with offenders and their families in a human services delivery setting.
  • Or two years of experience at the lower-level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 (SSP130) or equivalent position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree with a major in one of the following areas: Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Education, or a directly related field.
  • Two or more years of direct case management experience working with offenders and families in human services delivery settings.
  • Three or more years of experience at the lower-level equivalent.
