Job Summary

This position works as a member of the Electronic Monitoring Team, collaborates closely with the Victim Outreach Probation Officer, and assists probation and pretrial officers by monitoring defendants and offenders ordered by the courts to participate in electronic monitoring (GPS, remote alcohol monitoring, electronic curfew monitoring, performs drug/alcohol testing of offenders, conducts community contacts with defendants/offenders, attends and testifies in Court proceedings, as needed. The position installs electronic monitoring equipment on criminal defendants and offenders, which requires close contact with defendants/offenders Additionally, this position assists with pretrial and probation intakes, interfaces with various teams and specialty programs in the Department (Behavioral Health Docket, Domestic Violence Unit, Enhanced DWI Probation Unit, Recovery Court Team, Veterans Treatment Docket), maintains accurate automated case log notes, monitors online activities, interviews defendants/offenders, & submits documents to Court. The work schedule requires some flexibility and availability to attend work meetings/court proceedings and meet offenders or conduct off-hours remote surveillance during non-scheduled hours (evening and weekend work may be required). 

Hiring salary commensurate with experience. 

Minimum Qualifications

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field and one year of experience. Background in computer science or another technology-related field is preferred. Ability to speak Spanish is preferred. VCIN certification is required or selected candidate must obtain within 90 

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Successful candidate must undergo a criminal background and DMV record check. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. 

Position requires contacts with offenders which include residential and/or employment visits and retrieval of electronic monitoring equipment in the community. Must be willing to work with high-risk defendants/offenders who may have a history of violent crime. Must collect urine specimens for the purpose of testing for illegal substances. This position requites the ability to work some rotating evenings and weekends as a member of our electronic monitoring on-call team The ideal candidate will possess a dynamic personality that can adapt to working with both criminal justice-involved individuals, as well as Judges, prosecutors, law enforcement, defense attorneys, and other court personnel. Knowledge of the dynamics of intimate partner violence preferred.
