Position Overview
This role is situated within the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation division, focusing on food service operations. The primary responsibility is to execute a range of food service tasks and cashier functions.

Key Responsibilities
The incumbent will perform various duties, which may include:

  • Preparing and assembling food items according to established recipes for the quick service area and supporting additional food services, including hot meals, sandwiches, salads, and beverages.
  • Requesting necessary food and non-food supplies in line with established protocols.
  • Cooking food in accordance with anticipated demand and established standards.
  • Packaging food in individual servings and ensuring proper storage.
  • Adhering to HACCP guidelines during food preparation, storage, and service, including maintaining accurate temperature logs.
  • Operating cash registers, managing cash transactions, and ensuring accuracy in cash handling.
  • Exhibiting professionalism through courteous service and effective teamwork.
  • Managing leftovers and completing necessary documentation.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area before, during, and after service hours.
  • Ensuring all equipment is sanitized and operational, and that food supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Minimizing food waste and promoting special meal offerings.

Support for Catering Services
Assisting with catering and other food service activities by requisitioning supplies, preparing food and beverages, and ensuring all equipment is set up and cleaned properly.

Dishwashing and Cleaning Duties
The role also involves:

  • Washing heavy pots, pans, and service ware using both manual and mechanical methods.
  • Operating the tray return system and managing waste disposal in accordance with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Loading and unloading dishwashing machines and storing clean items appropriately.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing all dishwashing areas and maintaining a tidy environment.
  • Setting up and replenishing dining supplies in the service area.
  • Cleaning spills and maintaining a safe serving environment.

Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate relevant experience and knowledge in food preparation, safety protocols, cash handling, and customer service. A successful candidate will possess:

  • Understanding of basic food preparation principles and safety.
  • Ability to follow recipes and prepare various food items.
  • Knowledge of measuring techniques for ingredients.
  • Capability to comply with safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Additional Information
Salary is commensurate with experience and education. Selected candidates may be required to complete a probationary period and participate in Direct Deposit within the first month of employment. This position is part of a Drug-Free Federal Workplace.
