Position Overview

The Surgical Technology Specialist plays a crucial role in patient care throughout the various stages of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This position involves assisting physicians by providing the necessary tools and equipment to facilitate procedures effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support patient care before, during, and after procedures.
  • Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are inspected, cleaned, and prepared according to established protocols.
  • Organize and gather essential supplies and instruments for each case.
  • Assist the physician with technical tools during patient treatment.
  • Administer localized medications under the direct supervision of a physician.
  • Handle and transport procedural specimens as directed by nursing staff.
  • Prepare procedural rooms for endoscopic interventions, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
  • Facilitate patient transport to and from procedural areas as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Associate's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Completion of a GI Technical Specialist program is required within a specified timeframe after hiring.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and aseptic techniques is advantageous.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within a designated period after hiring.

Physical Requirements

The role involves various physical demands, including lifting, standing, and transporting patients. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic work environment that requires both physical and mental agility.
