Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist

Performs cardiopulmonary stress testing and physiological evaluation, analyzing external cardiacs and assisting in implantable device management. Provides patient education on heart-healthy lifestyle choices.

• Plans, develops, and conducts graded exercise testing.
• Monitors patient activity, physiological response, and adherence to exercise sessions.
• Provides specific exercise prescriptions based on age, culture, and orthopedic considerations.
• Analyzes external monitor findings using appropriate technology and processes, reporting according to protocol.
• Assists in managing patients with implantable devices, including triage, data entry, and scheduling.
• Provides patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle principles.
• Creates and updates educational materials.
• Assists with new employee orientation within the department.
• Communicates and collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
• Participates in research projects and committees/task forces.

• Required: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Health Science, or related field.
• Preferred: Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Health Science, or related field.
• Skills and knowledge typically gained through less than 2 years of relevant experience in conducting graded exercise testing, cardiovascular physiology, risk factor identification/modification, and basic electrocardiogram (EKG) knowledge.

• Required: CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association within 90 days.
• Required: CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association within 90 days.
• Required: CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association within 1 year.
• Required: CRT-Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Certified (CEP) - ACSM American College of Sports Medicine within 180 days.
